Springtime in Bowral ... what's Andrew up to?
Tulip time in Bowral - now over for another year.
Andrew and Allan at Lord Howe Island February 2026
My friend in
Bellevue Hill wrote that I only ever send out bad new! While this is not strictly true, it got me to
pen a few lines, most happy stuff. So I’m in rude good
health after some medical bumps along the post-retirement road (as most of you
know). I’ve been living a gorgeous
spring in Bowral with weekly trips to Sydney in the BMW EV for concerts, family
dinners, hair-cuts, The Metro and most important, Paddy’s Market which I love. I can practice my (rudimentary) Cantonese and
stock up on exotics at the same time.
Annie Cannon-Brookes has opened a bakery and café next to Burradoo
Station where I get early morning croissants, baguette and other pastries for
meself and Allan. My nephew Felix
Elwin had a major part in a school play in October at SCEGGS Redlands … The
Lion Boy … it became a huge family dinner in Military Road then the show with
three generations attending. Meantime my
niece Gracie Hay is on a second year GP attachment in Byron Bay and the BIG
news is that she is 16 weeks pregnant after being with Luke for over 12
years! The world is not in
a happy place but along with our neighbours in Potts Point we watch the cruise
ships going in and out of Sydney Harbour each week and pretend the Middle East
is not happening. My continuing
devotion to Shakespeare is starting to drive my friends and family crazy. To be or not to be ... Best wishes to all
for the approaching silly season. Andrew
